Set Decorator

Hi! Thanks for stopping by over here to learn a little more about me. Here is what IMDB says

I channel my love of the quest plus my hunting and gathering skills into working as a local 52 union set decorator for film and TV in New York City.

My love for period films (Victorian era to Art Deco being my soft spot) and realizing one day that you could be paid to help create living period interiors (all those wallpapers and textiles!) as sets is what brought me to the profession.

As a set decorator I deeply enjoy the eternal scavenger hunt for the objects that will bring layers of depth to the character's world or authentically ground the time, place, and mood of the story's setting.

My favorite sets are ones that elevate and magnify the glimpses of unglamorous everyday life dismissed as too ordinary and forgettable to be of note. Capturing those details of everyday life and elevating them into art is one of the biggest delights I get in the work.

I'm an entrepreneurial artist, resourceful, quick problem solver, great hustler, and happy team player that deeply enjoys creative collaboration.

My work has been featured in Wallpaper* Magazine, CBS Sunday Morning, public radio's KCRW Good Food, Cool Hunting, among other publications.

Just send me an email and let's start talking: charlenewangdechen [at] gmail (you know the rest)
